Being in touch with residents is the most important thing an elected official can do, and I take great pride in my track record of being available and approachable. I have maintained my personal website since BEFORE being elected to council with full agendas and minutes of council and committee meetings - years before the city started making information available online. I maintain a council and community calendar on google, to keep residents aware of meeting and event dates. I publish my personal cell phone number on my website, and my city contact information. I'm working for the residents of Port Moody, sharing information and staying in touch.

Yes, you will notice above, I am 'connected' via web, email and social media (as well as via phone !). Why ? Because I think it is important that you open up as many avenues for communication as possible. And this doesn't just mean at election time, but all the time. Open communications allows EVERYONE to participate in the discussions and the decision making processes. It's time to invite everyone into an open and full-some discussion.
One of my commitments as mayor is to open up communications with residents using multiple means - public meetings, open houses, council socials, and electronic communications via Twitter, Facebook, Email, Web and more. Reaching out to you and making it easy to participate.
It only makes sense that putting a notice on the internet, where hundreds can view it at once, is more effective than having to individually communicate with those same hundreds of people - this frees up our time to continue working on what is really important - building our community !
My information repository is my website, where I keep minutes, agendas, news clippings, statistical data - everything about the city that I have, I keep it there, in the 'open', and share it with everyone. There are no secrets and there is tremendous value in all of us being informed !
You know this isn't just a dream or a promise - I'm doing it now and will expand the communication to all city functions.
